Overview
The Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features five caves adorned with over 150 Buddha statues and exquisite murals that cover an area of 2,100 square metres. Carved into a massive granite rock, the temple complex dates back to the 1st century BC, with continuous additions through the centuries, making it a living testament to Sri Lanka's rich Buddhist heritage.
